Piccard Brücke
Highlight,
viewpoints/observation decks/panorama roads
Dizzyingly high, but secured all around: this is how the adventure of the suspension bridge at the back of the Gurgler Valley can be described. Since summer 2017, the 142 m long bridge has spanned the deep gorge between the two sides of the valley and provides an important connection between the Langtalereckhütte and Ramolhaus. The structure was named after the famous balloonist Auguste Piccard.Circular hiking trail or hut tour to the Ramolhaus. The Piccard Bridge is the turning point on a beautiful circular hike from Obergurgl. From the centre of the village, the signposted trail leads to the Gurgler Ache and up over steep grassy slopes, crossing small glacier streams several times, to the Küppelealm at approx. 2,300m. The trail continues into the valley and from afar the Ramolhaus, perched on a rocky outcrop, motivates all those who have set themselves this beautiful goal for the day. Still below the hut, the path branches off to the Piccard Bridge, which leads those with a head for heights safely to the other side of the valley. The panoramic path on the west side of the valley is not only used as an access to the Ramolhaus, but also as an alternative route to the Langtalereck hut. After a refreshing stop, hikers then return to Obergurgl on the east side of the valley. The round hike is also possible in the opposite direction: first the ascent via the Schönwies to the Langtalereck hut, before the Piccard bridge leads across the valley basin on the way back. For the entire round (without Ramolhaus) you should allow about 6 hours walking time.Highest point: 2,688 m Ascent and descent: each 819 m difference in altitude Refreshment stops: Ramolhaus, Langtalereckhütte, Schönwieshütte, Zirben Alm.Please note: The suspension bridge is open to hikers from the beginning of July to the end of September. In autumn, the walkway is covered over a length of 30 metres to protect it from avalanches.Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Naturpark Ötztal - Infopoint Hohe Mut | Gletscher & Hochgebirgsforschung
Ötztal nature park
This 135 m2 interactive nature park exhibition is located at 2,670 m in the basement of the Hohen Mut Alm. One look is enough to feel the omnipresent theme of "glaciers". The visual impressions are cleverly linked in the exhibition with information on glacier research and the high-alpine flora and fauna. Exclusive exhibits, such as a petrified ibex horn, expand the spectrum and a real “mini glacier” cools heated minds.Highlights: - interactive exhibition - Glacier ice to touch - High mountain research, alpine flora and faunaPictures from Ötztal Nature Park

Hohe Mut Sattel
Highlight,
nature sites
Hohe Mut with glacier experience. The most beautiful vantage point in the Alps.Far above Gurgl towers the lookout peak Hohe Mut (2,653 m). From the grassy ridge, hikers enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of 21 Dreitausneder and a dozen Glestcher. In close contact with the high alpine mountain world, they can already feel the cool breeze of the nearby ice. Depending on their preferences, hikers come up from Gurgl on foot or by gondola; a circular trail leads right up to the moraines.Landscape shaped by the ice age.Granatenkogl, Seelenkogl, Schalfkogl, Zirmkogl .... If you want to name all the mighty elevations before your eyes, you will be busy for a while on Hohe Mut. But the peaks and glacier fields have enough of what we so often lack. Time and patience. The high alpine panorama from the summit plateau (and from the sun terrace of the Hohe Mut Alm) alone is worth taking the moderately difficult hiking trail up from Gurgl. Even families with motivated kids can manage the climb, which always brings new incentives to continue. From the starting point in Gurgl, the trail first leads along the Gaisbergweg to the Zirben Alm, through the Obergurgler Zirbenwald natural monument and on into the Rotmoostal valley. For a first stop, the Schönwieshütte with its inviting terrace is ideal. Then continue on to the Hohe Mut ridge and finally to the summit. Retoiur you can choose between the same route and the Hohe Mut cable car. Another variant leads through the Gaisberg valley to the Hohe Mut.If you want to admire the glacier ice up close, it's best to follow the Rotmoostal water strider circular hiking trail. The tour begins with a gondola ride up to Hohe Mut before a leisurely walk on relatively flat terrain towards Rotmossfernen. Stony mountain paths then lead up to a prominent moraine at 2,720 m, the highest point of the hike, directly in front of the mighty Rotmoosferner. In the Rotmoos valley, the trail runs back out of the valley to the Schönwies hut, through the Swiss stone pine forest and past the Rotmoos waterfall to Gurgl.Tip: On the nature park Ötztal developed theme trail 'Of glaciers, garnets and bellflowers' you get to know the region even better.
