The unspoiled and family-friendly Hiking Village of Niederthai is a hamlet of Umhausen. Niederthai nestles in Horlachtal Valley, a side valley of Ötztal, at 1550 meters above sea level. The scenic village is renowned for superb family ski holidays and cross-country skiing with absolute snow reliability. Tumpen lies at the entrance to Umhausen, offering many awe-inspiring nature treasures and splendid attractions: the Tumpen waterfall, the mystic Engelswand rock face, the mighty Achplatte rockslide area and countless chapels.
An idyllic hamlet far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Ötztal's geological highlight: the Köfels rockslide area ranks among the biggest of its kind in the Alps. At the roadside you still find plenty of molten Köfelsit rocks - similar to pumice stone.
Located above the legendary Engelswand rock face, is one of Ötztal's oldest settlements. If you dare ascending on the serpentines that have been cut into the steep rock (60-minute walk), you are rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view and hearty hospitality at the year-round serviced mountain inn.
Tirol's longest Alpine valley stretches 67 kilometers southwards between the Ötztal autobahn exit and the rear end of the valley with the biggest glacier ski area in the Eastern Alps.
