Nordic Skiing at its Finest

High-altitude location, absolute snow reliability and varied cross-country skiing tracks that are even free of charge. Not without reason the sunny Alpine plateau of Niederthai is referred to as "Ötztal's Nordic Skiing Center". And on top of all that: hobby athletes can try their luck at the Taster Biathlon. And those who are still not tired enough, enjoy night-time Nordic skiing from Monday till Sunday on the floodlit "Frühloipe" and "Tellerboden Night Trail" from 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm.

Among true Nordic sport fans Niederthai is a class of its own. The mountain village has been awarded the Tirolean Nordic Ski Track Quality Seal. Beginners can choose from a total of 16 Nordic trail kilometers on varied routes. There is a tailor-made track for all skill levels and preferences, be it classic-style or skating. A nature exploration of a very special kind is the Nordic ski track leading into scenic Horlachtal side valley on a length of 3.3 kilometers, a quite sporty challenge offering also picture-book rest stop points. The three kilometer long Sonnenplateauloipe route makes a perfect warm-up track. What cross-country skiers appreciate most in Niederthai: the money stays in their pocket as the full variety of well-groomed routes is free of charge.

Biathlon

All fans of Nordic sports are invited to try the Biathlon in Niederthai.

Be it beginner or pro – everyone can join the fun-filled biathlon.

Every Thursday from 1.00 pm - 3.00 pm you can learn more about biathlon shooting techniques from experts within the Nordic Sports center Niederthai (at the big snowman).

Cost: € 10,- per person, 1x included for holders of the Niederthai Winter Card

Nordic Skiing Bus

A free bus shuttle for cross-country skiers is again available for holders of Guest Card or Niederthai Winter Card. Also guests with valid ski pass and ski, snowboard or nordic skiing equipment can use the bus for free on their way to the winter sports area.

Scenic Ötztal makes a true paradise for lovers of Nordic sports as the entire valley offers more than 195 kilometers of perfectly groomed cross-country skiing tracks. Especially the wide open basin of Längenfeld is a wonderful spot for endless Nordic loops. Great stamina and endurance training!

Length: 1.1 km / skating & classic style Difficulty: intermediate The Nordic track was equipped with snow-making devices to ensure a very early start of the cross country skiing season. Along the track you pass the biathlon course where you can prove your skills at the taster biathlon once a week. From Monday till Sunday evening the Frühloipe Trail is from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm lighted.
	Horlachtalloipe (Mittel/ Intermediate) Intermediate 3.3 km
Length: 3.3 km / skating & classic style Difficulty: intermediate Entrance is the car park Sennhof (next to the information office). After a short but quite steep climb you will reach the scenic Sonnenplateau Nordic track. On the next kilometer you cross Horlachbach brook first, continuing steadily uphill into scenic Horlachtal side valley. After a gentle downhill stretch and a short flat area you get back to the starting point.
	Lehenloipe (Leicht /Easy) Easy 1 km
Lenght: 1.0 km / skating & classic style Difficulty: easy The gently rising and descending Lehenloipe cross country ski trail leads through the meadows of Niederthai on a length of 0,7 kilometers. Right on the spot the Nordic track also offers one alternative of intermediate difficulty for sporty skaters.
	Matauloipe (Mittel/Intermediate) Intermediate 2.1 km
Length: 2.1 km / skating & classic style Difficulty: intermediate The Nordic trail leads along Horlachbach brook (across the meadows), then slightly downhill to Gasthof Stuibenfall inn and back again to the starting point. From the Matau track you can also access the Sonnenplateau track leading across snowy hills.
	Sonnenplateauloipe (Leicht/Easy) Easy 3 km
Länge: 3 km / skating & classic style Difficulty: easy The 3 kilometer long cross-country skiing track leads, slightly ascending and descending, right to the heart of Niederthai‘s sunny plateau and across endless fields. Past the scenic houses of Niederthai or along the forest edge you can enjoy uninterrupted panoramic views. The Nordic track offers three alternatives of intermediate difficulty for sporty Nordic skiers.
	Tauferbergloipe (Schwer/Challenging) Hard 2.3 km
Length: 2.3 km / skating &classic style Difficulty: difficult On the first 1.5 kilometers you haveto conquer about 100 altitude meters, which lead through a picture-book forest. Followed by a speedy downhill stretch on the same route with steep sections and hairpin bends.
	Tellerboden Nachtloipe (Leicht/Easy) Easy 2.4 km
Length: 2.4 km / skating & classic style Difficulty: easy The gently rising and descending track leads through the meadows of Niederthai on a length of 1,8 kilometers. Right on the spot the Nordic track offers one alternative of intermediate difficulty for sporty skaters. From Monday till Sunday evening the Tellerboden Night Track is from 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm lighted.
	Zubringerloipe Matau (Mittel / Interm.) Intermediate 1 km
Lenght: 1 km / skating & classic style Difficulty: intermediate The good one kilometer long connecting trail connects the Sonnenplateau Track with the Matauloipe.
