The prelude to the exhibition experience is the so called "Shelter" made of solid stone pine wood. Located on the forecourt of the parish house, it symbolizes "Hohler Stein" area not far from Vent and refers to the focus on archeology and settlement history. Besides the wooden sculpture, a bronze relief cutout of the surrounding area can help to orientate roughly in the landscape.
On the first floor, the Nature Park exhibition on almost 50 m² shows the incredible diversity of natural and cultural history in Vent. It gives an insight into local field names as well as the tradition of sheep drives across Alpine ridges, Stone Age settlement history up to tourism pioneer and priest Franz Senn, climate change & glacier melt plus other central natural history topics. The exhibition's main aim is to introduce visitors to the sensitive Alpine habitat with its specially adapted plants and animals.
All contents are presented in two languages (EN - DE). The multimedia-based exhibition also includes varied audio stations - ranging from animal sounds and field names spoken in Ötztal dialect to touchpads. Visitors can leaf through the guestbook of Franz Senn, admire old views of the glaciers or zoom in on images of animals by using the electron microscope. This is just the perfect program for all the family after an adventurous hiking tour or on a leisurely resting day.
