“From sunset to moonrise”: Even in primeval times people observed the starry sky, noticed changes and adapted their life according to the rhythm of the seasons. Based on the rising and setting of the sun in the surrounding mountain silhouettes, special days of the year could be determined such as the equinox or the summer solstice. With her work of art visible from afar, the South Korean artist Haesim Kim refers to the primeval connection between humans and nature. The brownish rock is warmed up by the sun during the day and radiates off heat after sunset. The white rounded stones in the shape of an open circle may reflect the observations in the starry night sky. As if the positions of the moon could be recognized in it during its nocturnal course in the firmament.
